  1. moving of the lips in simulation of audible speech but without making a sound.

  2. mummbling, murmering, muttering

E.g. There was a lot of mussitation while the speaker gave his speech.

  • To scatter, broadcast or disperse either information or tangible objects.

E.g. I will disseminate the results to the rest of the team.

  • Originally, scuttle (opening on ships deck) + butt (barrel) meant a water cask on a ships deck. These days scuttlebutt (US slang) refers to gossip or rumour.

E.g. There's a lot of scuttlebutt going around about Sarah.

  • Not real usually used when something or somebody is not genuine or trying to mislead or deceive in an insincere manner.
