dollop \dŏl'əp\

noun


Dollop is a word used to indicate a measure of something but indicates different amounts depending on what is being described.

  • A large blob or portion of a solid or solid-like substance.

E.g. Can you give me a dollop of icecream to go with my appple pie?

  • A small dash or splash of a liquid.

E.g. I'll just have a dollop of whiskey, please.

  • A small amount; a bit.

E.g. There's not a dollop of truth in that boy's excuse!
